OS Kernel Engineer

Job Description

Designs, develops, maintains, tests, debugs, optimizes, secures, and/or evaluates OS Kernel and system software, including device drivers, virtualization, hypervisor, and/or other software technologies both open source and proprietary. Utilizes knowledge in software architecture, design, debug, development, operating system internals, and silicon on platform features.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree - Software development/integration/validation - Domain knowledge in the areas of Linux kernel, hypervisors and open source operating systems - Familiarity with Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Red Hat, SUSE, or others - Strong collaboration and communication skills - Passion to work with the open source community Preferred Qualifications: - Track record of successful upstreaming of Linux kernel patches - Experience working with worldwide teams - Knowledge of Intel Architecture Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
